EASTER WEDDING

PEARSE—RIGHTON I A very charming wedding of considerable local interest was solemnised in St. George’s Anglican Church, Whakatane, on Easter Monday, when Nancie Olga, youngest daughter of Mr and the late Mrs A. Righton, was married to Arthur, eldest son of Mr md Mrs R. Pearse, of Taupo. The church was prettily decorated with Easter flowers, and the goldenhaired bride made a graceful and striking picture as she entered with her father. Robed in a full-length long-trained gown of soft ivory crepe with long tulle veil, she had selected simple flowing lines which did her the fullest justice. Her graceful veil was gathered into a knot and crowned with bridal flowers, nd she wore a fine gold chain with a pendant of amethysts,’ the gift of the bridegroom. Her bouquet was of white dahlias, chrysanthemums and trailing maidenhair fern. Miss Strelna Fleming, of, Auckland, who attended as bridesmaid vore an attractive frock of apple”een organdie, with deep yoke of U over lace and trimmed with orandie ruchings. A Juliet cap and xmquet of autumn tints completed \er toilette.

Little Kay Mitchell, a neice of the bride, made a dainty little flower girl in buttercup organdie with a posy of autumn flowers.

Mr Noel McLeod of Te Puke ably carried out the duties of best man.

About forty guests attended the reception in the Masonic Hall, where Miss Myrtle Righton (sister of the bride) acted as hostess and was tastefully frocked in a smart twotoned costume of green wool crepe with black hat and autumn shoulder spray.

The tables had been prettily decorated and pride of place was, taken up with the beautifully iced threetiered wedding cake, the artistic woi’k of Mrs C. Hayward Sen. Mr C. E. Gibberd made an excellent toastmaster and kept the company in high good humour throughout. The bride and bridegroom left later on a fortnights tour of the North Island, the bride travelling in t cinnamon coloured woollen cosfume with smart brown accessories. On their return their future home will Jj>e in Christchurch.
