RANGITAIKI SUB-UNION MEETS PROSPECTS FOR NEW SEASON Delegates from all affiliated clubs attended the meeting of the Rangitaiki Rugby Sub-Union at Edgecumbe last week, and from the enthusiastic note which . \yas struck from the outset there apears to be every indication that the forthcoming season will be an outstanding one.

The president, Mr F. J. Burt, gave a comprehensive report of the year’s activities and expressed the hope that improved rugby, and wider support would eventuate during the new season. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £l5O 6s 9d, a slight deficit on the working operations of the previous year. The election of officers resulted as under:—

Patron: Mr J. Pattie (re-elected). President: Mr F. J. Burt (re-elect-ed).

Deputy Chairman: Mr A. Robins.

Vice-Presidents: All Club Presidents and Messrs. C. Eivers, A. Jamieson, F. Linsell, P. Cobden, W. McCracken, J. Newdick, H. L. Anderson, G. Mexted and J. Parkinson. and Treasurer: C. E. Thompson. Auditor: Mr E. Rogers.

• Management Committee: Club de> legates. Te Teko, T. Whitley, W. Moko; Otakiri, O. Lord, W. Billing; Matata, E. Naumann, H. L. Anderson; Edgecumbe, C. Burke, R. Ferguson; Thornton, A. Robins; Awakeri, J. Newdick. The following teams were nominated: Te Teko, Senior and Junior; Otakiri, Senior and Junior; Matata, Senior and Junior; Edgecumbe, Senior and Junior; Thornton, Junior; Awakeri, Junior. A discussion took place regarding Third Grade competition but the matter was deferred. It was decided to open the season with a seven a side tournament on April 27. The club competition will commence the following Saturday.
