HOSPITAL AMALGAMATION The much discussed proposal which emanated from the County Council that the Whakatane Hospital District should be merged with the Waikato area, has rceived its more or less formal dismissal following the conference between the local bodies concerned and ■ the Waikato Board’s Finance Committee. This intimation was conveyed to the Whakatane Board yesterday by letter in which it was stated that the Finance Committee did not favour amalgamation and had no recommendation to make to the full Board meeting. The letter caused no comment and was merely received.
