PERSONAL

We regret to record the death of Mrs C. Pearson, of Clifton Road, Whakatane, which occurred on Friday last after a period of indifferent health following the death of her husband last year. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon.

In response to the Whakatane Harbour Board's letter requesting to have the islands in the upper harbour made- over to its jurisdiction, the Commissioner of Crown Lands advised that that the Board would be notified as soon as a decision had been reached.

At last Friday's meeting of the Whakatane Harbour Board, the chairman (Mr W. R. Boon) extended a formal welcome to Mr H. G. Warren, the newly appointed Borough delegate, in place of Mr G. R. Kent and expressed the hope that Borough and Board interests would be advanced through his membership.
