N.Z. DEFENCE
OYER A HUNDRED MILLION Approximately £105,000,000 was spent by New Zealand on imported war materials and equipment from 1939 to 1945, according to the Census and Statistics Office.
Of this amount, £76,804,000 was spent during 1943 and 1944 when defence commitments were high. The aggregate value of defence items, together with the total value of imports, was as follows: —
