KITCHEN EVENING

MISS MAIRE BERG A large number of friends of Miss Maire Berg attended a kitchen evening in the Caledonian Hall last Friday evening, held in honour of her approaching marriage to Mr J. Dempster Rivett. The evening was pleasantly spent in dancing with an interlude of community singing, under the M.C. ship of Mr Roland King, Mr Ted Hayden supplying the music. A delicious supper was served, consisting almost entirely of homemade cakes, and those responsibe for the serving of it must be warmly complimented. Feature of the evening was the opening of the presents, which took place immediately after supper. These collectively formed an excellent range of kitchenware, there fortunately being very few duplications (with the notable exception of the collection of four rolling pins!) A Monte Carlo was won by Mr Don Buxton and Miss Nola West.
