EDGECUMBE SEALING

CORNER GARAGE SITE PROBLEM

QUESTION OF REMOVAL

The Whakatane County Council at its meeting last Tuesday gave a sympathetic hearing to the case of Mr J. Andersen, owner of a corner garage at Edgecumbe, which has been constructed on part of the roadway now required for tar sealing. Mr Andersen through the Engineer, expressed complete willingness to shift his building as soon as he was informed of the course of the projected new highway and the position of the sub-way under the railway embankment.

Crs Hunter, Luxton and McGougan expressed satisfaction with Mr Andersen’s attitude and it was decided to give him six months in which to shift the garage as from the date of the definition of the route of the new highway.
