OLD CLOTHES DRIVE
SALE IN STRAND R.S.A. FUNDS BENEFIT The committee supporting Princess Pam in the present Queen Carnival to raise money for the R.S.A. Welfare Memorial Appeal Fund, had a very successful day particularly from the financial point of view last Friday, when a sale of old clothes was held in a stall erected next to the Regent Theatre. The clothes, which were offered for sale were the result of a drive held by school children under Mr A. Seebeck last Tuesday, when several hundred garments were collected.
The stall opened at t 3.30 a.m. on Friday, and immediately commenced a brisk business, which lasted throughout the better part of the day. By dinner time, the garments had been well picked over, and most of the bargains, of which there were many, had gone, but there still remained sufficient to attract the majority of those who passed by. We understand the total proceeds from the sale will be well oyer £SO.
