WHAKATANE RETAINS CUP The challenge match between Whakatane and Opotiki snooker teams, for the Cup presented by Billiards Ltd. at present held by Whakatane, which took place in Mr J. Hanwright’s billiard saloon, the Strand, last Tuesday evening, resulted in a win for Whakatane, who succeeded in taking the necessary four games out of six. Results were as follows, Whakatane names being mentioned first in each case:—
Morgan 41 beat Waterson 43 lost to Ross 65; Kiri 69 beat J. Young 62; R. Keesing 25 lost to T. Young 55; Davis 47 beat J. Foy 34; Thompson 63 beat Hawkins 52. The remaining game between Keepa (Whakatane) and Patterson (Opotiki) was not played.
