SPORTING INTERESTS

BAY OF PLENTY SHOOTING TEAMS Rod and Gun Clubs will be sending teams of sportsmen to defend the Bay of Plenty Challenge Cup, which will be shot at Taneatua on

March 31. The cup, which was presented by the late Mr A. J. Illes, past president of Rotorua club, has been completed for on four occasions, Rotorua and Opotiki dividing the honours. Strong nominations have been received from, within the district and some keen competition should result. The Whakatane Club teams will be: ‘A’ Messrs C. A. Tifnbs, M. Matchett, S. Keen, A. Powdrell, S. Luttrell, S. Hirst, H. Jackson and F. Matchett.

‘B’ R. Stephenson, T. Stephenson, J. Reynolds, J. D. Rivett, F. Abbott, W. Kenyon, W. G. Mayo and R. Bluett. The Rotorua Club will also be sending two teams these will be:— ‘A’: J. Parkinson, J. F. Thomas, W. Gillet, R. E. Cuthbertson, A. J. Brown, G. H. Brown, J. Ormond. ‘B’: W. Costello, W. Lee, E. C. Adolph, F. Lord, P. Ormond, L. P. Steer, A. G. Brown, H. Ormond.
