Firemen Do Well

At the New Zealand Fire Demon.stration held at Gisborne recently the Whakatane team did exceptionally well and are to be warmly congratulated. Foreman B. Norman travelled as an executive official, and the team under Secretary H. Allen as Captain comprised Firemen S. Dent, H. Head and D. McDonald. Fireman J. Dent travelled as delegate and emergency. In a field of 31 'teams Whakatane secured the following positions: One man event—--sth; Four man suction—sth; Three man dressing—2nd; Instantaneous with feeder lines—2nd; Three man disabled —6th. In the thirteen events the team did most creditably. The Taumarunui team won the championship shield and the Gisborne public put on a wonderful welcome to the hundreds of Firemen assembled there.
