PLUNKET SOCIETY

MONTHLY MEETING VISITING DAYS The monthly meeting of the Whakatane Branch of the Plunket Society was held in the rooms on Monday, March 4 at 8 p.m. Present were Mrs Cairns (chair), Mesdames Jessop, King, Dainton, Knights, Roach, Patterson, Morpeth and Caisley (secretary). Apologies were received from Mesdames Shapley, Zinsli, Kingsley-Smith, Timbs Snr. and Spring.

The Nurse’s report for February was read and confirmed. Districts visited during the month were Opotiki, Taneatua, Rangitaiki Plains, Thornton, Ohope Beach, Nukuhou, Waimana and Edgecumbe. Intimation was given that the Plunket Rooms would henceforth be open from 1.30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays and from 1 p.m. to '4 p.m. On Fridays. As all businesses were now closed on Saturdays the rooms would not be open on that day. A cheque for £2O was received from the Borough Council. It was resolved that Nurse Armstrong be given a week’s leave as from April 1 to attend the Nurses’ Conference. Also that the Garden Party be held on Thursday, March 14 at Mrs Knights’ residence, Cadman’s Corner-King Street at 2 p.m. The meeting closed with the usual vote of thgnks to the chair.
