We have been notified that Squadron Leader Trent, V.C., D.F.C., who it was announced recently had been awarded the Victoria Cross, was Pilot Officer Andrew Coutt’s Squadron Leader, and the raid on which he won this highest of honours, was the one in which P/O Coutts was lost. Andy Coutts, husband of Ailsa Coutts, and son of Mr and Mrs P. Coutts, Whakatane, will be well remembered by local residents. Also attached to the 487 Squadron mentioned in the despatch at the time was Hugh Armstrong.
