WELCOME HOME DANCE

AWAKERI GATHERING SGT. TUI HAEUSLER The usual loyal district attendance favoured the Welcome Home dance held in the Awakeri Hall on Saturday last, the guest of the evening being Sgt. Tui Haeusler. The programme was in the hands of Mr C. MacDonald as M.C. and the music for a good variety of old-time and modern dances was supplied by the Premier Band.

After the supper interval Mr D. Butler on behalf of those present extended the district’s warmest greetings to the guest on his safe return, and made a presentation. Musical honours were accorded Sgt. Haeusler, who suitably responded to Mr Butler’s remarks, and received a good ovation from his many friends. The second heat of the Monte Carlo was entered into with great enthusiasm, the winners being Miss E. Cain and Mr J. Johnston.
