WEEKEND GAMES A number of enjoyable games took place on the Whakatane Club’s greens at Apanui over the weekend the continued fine weather attracting a large number of players to the rinks. The following results were recorded:—

Wilson and Head (s) 14; Hayward, Pearson and Harris (s) 28 beat Bullot, Riddell, Alexander and Morse 22; Sims, Salmon, West and Hellyar 24 beat F. Gerring, R. C. Wilson, A. C. King and Loane 11; Dainton, Dixon and Walker 21 beat Hubbard, Martin and Drube 18; Compton, Bell, Bennett and Howat 19 beat Davis, Mollgaard, Middlemas and Burgess 16; Smith, Gerring, Warner and Oswald 20 beat Campbell, Head Bigelow and Currah 19.

In the. Singles Championship Final, C. Good was successful in defeating R. Murphy. Our congratulations are extended to the winner. Farewell Presentation
During the afternoon, Mr W. Henderson, took the opportunity of farewelling Mr R. Marsh who is to leave shortly for New Plymouth where he will take up residenc. Mr Henderson made a presentation of a leather bowling bag on behalf of the club, and extended best wishes for the future.
“TIN HAT” TOURNAMENT RETURNED SERVICES ASSOCIATION The Returned Services Association Annual “Tin Hat” Tournament was played on Sunday, at the Whakatane Bowling Club’s greens at
Apanui. Owing to the inclement weather the starting time was postponed from 9 a.m. till 1 p.m., when play continued without interruption. The rinks were in good condition, and all games were closely contested. . Twenty-eight full rink teams from Opotiki, Whakatane, Taneatua, Te Puke, Katkati, Tauranga and Rotorua were present, a large number of young veterans being noted amongst the players. One team, which attracted attention was brought through from the convalescent home at Rotorua, by Dr. Wallis, and although still suffering from war injuries, succeeded in running into the semi-finals. The following results were recorded, skips name only being mentioned in each case: Section ‘A’: Dr. Wallis (Rotorua Hospital) 5 h wins; P. Madsen (Opotiki) si; T.
