EDGECUMBE SEALING

QUESTION OF ROAD WIDTH

ENGINEER TO INVESTIGATE The Rangitaiki Plains Dairy Company notified the Whakatane County Council last Tuesday advising that all tar sealing in the factory yarcl had now been completed and in accordance with the agreement previously reached the Council was now requested to complete the tar sealing and kerbing on the roadway.

Cr Hunter asked if the decision to seal the highway through Edgecumbe had been dropped. There was a rumour cmrent to that effect and he would like to know the position. The engineer stated that a difficulty had arisen with regard to the removal of Mr H. Andersen’s garage which had been built partially on the road way; Cr Hunter strongly recommended that the work should be started without delay irrespective of the apparent difficulties.

On the motion of the Chairman it was decided that the riding representatives and the engineer interview Mr Andersen in an effort to reach finality and that no further time be lost in making a start coincident with the kerbing in front of the factory.
