GUN CLUB’S SHOOT

TANEATUA CLUB’S DAY A very highly successful Clay Bird Shoot sponsored by the Taneatua Rod and Gun Club was held on Mr W. C. Davis property, Taneatua, during the weekend. There was a large number of members and visitors present and from the takings the Rod and Gun Club has donated £2O to the local R.S.A. Appeal Fund, a very commendable effort' on its part, in view of the fact that it has so recently came out of recess. A number of trophies were presented by members and friends and light luncheon and afternoon tea was dispensed by the ladies.

A shoot for Returned Soldiers was won by Mr G. Santon who very sportingly returned it to be competed for again when it realised a further £2 15s. The President, Mr W. Semmens, thanked all those who had done so much to make the day a success from both the sporting and the financial point of view. Following are the results:—Sweep Mo. 1, 5 Birds: C. Timbs, J. Butler and M. Rust made the possible and divided the stake. (37 entries).

Sweep No. 2, Novice, 5 Birds: T. Ross, J. Hayward, M. Rust, J. Tebbutt and M. T. Ross made the possible. In the shoot off J. Tebbutt won. (32 entries). Sweep No. 3, 10 Birds: M. Matchett and T. M. Ross shot 9 birds each and in the shoot off Matchett won on the 12th bird. (29 entries). Sweep No. 4, 5 Birds’for shooters undei; 20 years: M. Matchett made the possible. (4 entries). Sweep No. 5, 5 Birds: J. Plamus made the possible and 11 shooters tied for second place with four birds each. (40 entries). Sweep No. 6, 8 Birds Returned Soldiers: G. Santon won with 7 birds, J. Ross and G. Matchett for second place with 6 birds. (13 en-

tries). Sweep No. 7, 5 Birds: N. J. Ross, F. Matchett, C. Timbs and A. Powdrell made the possible and divided - the stakes. (30 entries).

Sweep No. 8, double rise 5 pail's of birds: J. Lawn, M. T. Ross and J. Hassett shot 6 birds each and divided. (24 entries).

Sweep No. 9, box shoot first miss out: J. Hayward won on his 4th bird. (61 entries).
