CHILD'S DEATH
SCALDED WITH BOILING WATER TRAGEDY AT HEADS An unfortunate accident, which later caused the death of Jean lieuben two year old daughter of Mr and' Mrs Martin Reuben of the Heads Whakatane occurred last Thursday evening when the little girl pulled the electric cord of a jug full of boiling water and precipitated the contents over her head and body. The young Victim lived 24 hours after the accident and later expired in her home on Friday evening.
It transpires that the water had been boiled only a few minutes ber* fore the child f who was endeavouring to rise to her clutched the electric cable. Her initial condition did not appear to be serious, but later continued to decline with the final tragic result. The inquest into death was opened before the' District Mr C. S. Armstrong on Saturday morning when following identification evidence it was adjourned sine die.
