WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

FEBRUARY MEETING HELD

The monthly meeting of the Wai-mana-Nukuhou Women’s Institute was held in the Waimana Hall last Wednesday afternoon. There was a good attendance of members, considering quite a number were away on account of illness-. Mrs Wylde presided and opened the meeting by reading the Motto for the month, which was followed by the singing of the Ode to Friendship.

The Roll Call was “What I would like done at the Women’s Institute” the majority of members being quite satisfied with the manner in which the W.T. Avas conducted. Nominations were received for the committee for the new year and as Mrs Wylde did not Avish to continue as president Mrs F. J. Savage Avas elected to the chair.

The competitions for the day Avere as folloAvs: Best single flower Mrs H. Bell 1; Mrs M. King 2; Mrs’Stevenson 3. Best double flower Miss F. Wool field 1; Mrs H. Bell 2; Mrs King 3.Collection of fruit, Mrs I. Savage 1; Mrs F. Bell 2. Best vegetable, Mrs I. Savage 1; Mi’s Wylde 2; Miss Wool field 3. Infants vest, knitted, Mrs 1. SaA r age 1; Mrs F. Bell 2.’

Afternoon tea Avas served by the hostesses and greatly enjoyed. Mrs Wylde then thanked the judges and hostesses and the singing of the National Anthem closed the meeting.
