Fishy But True!

Following is a fish story will compare, with the best any angler can produce, but which strangely enough, happens, to be true: A family from Ohope, was returning home ,‘rom the direction of Waimana. They happened, to stop at a place on the river bank a short distance on the Waimana side of the Stanley Track turnoff (a spot well known to many local residents for its excellent swimming and picnicking qualities). Hero they decided to boil the billy and prepare afternoon tea. Standing on the bank of the river, the father of the family was idly skimming flat stones over the water. He tried, it with one somewhat larger than usual, and imagine his amazement when a few seconds after it hit the surface what should float up but beautiful rainbow trout, absolutely stunned. Naturally be lost no time in securing his ‘catch’ and that evening the delicious aroma of fresh trout sizzling in the pan heralded a tea which was altogether unexpected, yet very acceptable.
