UNION AND FEDERATION

DEADLOCK CONTINUED

Amongst remits which came before the monthly Executive meeting of the New Zealand Farmers.’ Union (Auckland Province) were the following:—

Northern Thames: “That the Auckland Executive be thanked for their work in Federation negotiations particularly the endeavours of Mr A. E. Robinson.”

Rotorua: “Upon hearing Mr R. W. Dunning’s report this Rotorua subprovince continues to wholeheartedly support the N.Z. Farmers’ Union (Auckland Province). This meeting has no confidence in [the Federated Farmers under its present set-up." Bay of Plenty: “The members pledge themselves to remain steadfast to the Auckland Farmers’ Union and not to even consider joining the Federation until all agreements which have been entered into between the txvo bodies in the. past are carried out in toto.” These remits were not discussed by the Executive the. President Captain H. M. pointing out that at the December meeting a resolution had been earned — “That as application for admission is still before the Provisional Council of the Federation and pending acceptance the Executive considers it is not in its power to take any further action.”
