CLAY BIRD SHOOT

ANNIVERSARY DAY CONTEST
The recently formed Whakatane Rod and Gun Club held its lirst shoot on Emery’s property at Awakeri last Tuesday when a good muster of members attended and some expellent shooting, was witnessed. The ‘trophy’ shoot for a prize donated by the president, Mr J. Rivett was the highlight of the day and drew some splendid exhibitions of gunmanship. Of the 21. entries, four tied and in the shoot-off J. Hay r ward won after a keenly contested final. Details were as under: — Five Bird Trial: A. Mitchell shot the possible. 10 entries. Five Bird Eye Opener: J. Plamus A. Mitchell, T. Turei, M. Matchett divided the prize. 19 entries.
Boys under 29 years (5 birds): W. B. Wardlaw shot the possible. 7 entries.
Trophy Shoot (10 birds): J. Plamus, J. Hayward, W. B. Wardlaw and R. Bell tied with 9 birds each, in the shoot off J. Hayward won the trophy. 21 entries. Fifteen Bird Sweepstake: M. Matchett won with the possible. J. Plamus and W. Mayo being second with 14 birds. 19 entries.
Ten Bird Sweep: C. Timbs, J. Plamus, W. Wardlaw, R. .Stephenson and M. 'Matchett divided with 9 birds each. 24 entries.
Five Bird Sweep: R. Stephenson, F. Matchett, W. Tyssen, M. Matchett divided with the possible. 20 entries.
Five Bird Sweep: J. Plamus! with the possible 1: M/ Matchett and 11. Beil 2. 16 entries.
Final Five Bird Sweep: R. Bell, M. Matchett, F. Matchett and T. Stephenson divided with the possible. 17 entries.
