THE GRAND
IMPROVED CLASSES OF ENTERTAINMENT
Regular theatre patrons will no doubt have noticed v the much better class of picture being shown at the Grand of late. Times were when it was referred to familiarly as ‘the bug house’, and as such derived a reputation all of its own. But times
have changed and having been re-i decorated and made into quite an attractive house the Grand is now coining into its own. The efforts on the part of the management in endeavouring to obtain a better class of programme have not been in vain, and although patrons may not realise it the double feature often
includes a picture which were it showing at the Regent, would at;-
tract n capacity house. Several of late, in fact ? strange though it may seem have gone straight from the Grand to the Auckland theatres. The reason that the. Grand sticks to the double feature is that many patroncs would rather see a fulllength picture in place of the usual supports.
A picture to keep in mind is ‘Sheepdog of the Hills..’ This, is the English version of ‘Lassie Come Home’ and will probably be claimed by many as being even superior to the latter, although it has not had tlie. benefits, of nearly so much eonr eentrated publicity. It is to be screened at the -Grand on February 2nd and -Ith. P.B.A.
