UNITED v PAiROA DRAWN GAME RESULTS Last weekend United played Paroa on the W'hakatane Domain. In the early morning the weather was overcast but steadily improved later on. United won the toss and elected to let Paroa bat first. C. Gillam and G. Goile the opening batsmen fot Paroa proved a fine partnership hitting strongly and with confidence. These two put 87 runs on the board before (Jillam was caught by Crawgord off his own bowling. A. Martin succeeded Gillam but was run out without scoring. Goile after a good innings was caught by Cameron otf McKenzie’s bowling. H. Grant and T. Grant formed a useful partnership before H. Grant was caught by Crawford. R. Cleland and T. Grant together put 51 runs up before Grant retired and shortly afterwards Cleland retired also. The remaining wickets fell steadily with the final score standing at 21)9 runs for nine wickets down.
For United L. R. Spring and W. Crawford opened and proved, a fine opening partnership. Crawford batted very well and made some good hits. Spring gave an excellent display of batting and the two were very pretty to watch. Crawford was bowled by Gillam. W. J. BcKenzie was also bowled by Gillam. A. Fisher and Spring were not out when time, was up. United were two wickets down for 132 runs.
