Snooker Challenge A challenge from a Matata. team for the Billiards Ltd. Cup has been accepted by Whakatane and will be played on Tuesday evening at ’Mr J. Hanwright’s billiard saloon. A large attendance of spectators is expected .
Qpotiki Sheep Fair , Attention is drawn to the Opotiki Sheep Fair, advertised in this issue, which takes place next Monday. At} this sale some 7000 sheep' will be handled. Owing to the .dry weather a number of entries have been withdrawn and a later Supplementary Fair will be held which is expected to handle 10,000 sheep.
Blood Donat's Wanted
The advertisement appearing in last issue, has already been answered by half a dozen persona willing to take the test as suitable blood donars for the Whakatane Hospital. It is pointed out that only those suited, or coming within the desired group will be taken, and further
that the utmost precaution will always he exercised in the actual op-< oration. Donars arc required to have one half day’s rest following the taking of. blood, but in a’l other respects no harmful results occur, and they are none the worse for their gesture.
