£33,500 in Community Sings
‘‘Your organisation is performing an outstanding service, and is a line influence in the community, i ask you to accept the congratulations and thanks of the city,” said the Mayor of Dunedin (Mr D. C. Gamd cron) at the final meeting for the 1«)4") season of the Dunedin Community Sing Committee. The chair-, man of the committee (Mr W. it. Sinclair) said that the sings had grown in popularity year by year, and the contributions received through their appeals had now reached a total of £33,531 10s. It was .difficult to assess the full value of the sings, he said. They were of benefit to the Community in many ways. Those who attended them, including many housewives and others whose occupations did not bring them into the city every day, enjoyed them, and those who listen-' esd to them numbering thousands throughout the city anti country, also derived much pleasure from them. To sick people and others who were confined to their homes they were of particular value.
