A benefit dance Avas held in the Waimana Hall for Mrs Spanhake and family, who had the misfortune to lose their home and contents by lire. The function was arranged by the residents of Nukuhou North and was very avcll attended by the. public. The dance music Avas played by Rodie and his boys Mr F. Sterling acted as M.G. and Mr Les Robertson Avas doorkeeper. A cake donated for competition AA'as Avon by INIr Barry SteA’enson and a dinner bv Mrs Ruff Snr.

After supper Mr ,7. L. Burnett in Avell chosen vvords, presented Mrs Spanhake Avithi a substantial cheque from all present and. also from several friends avlio Avcre unable to attend the function. The reciuient thanked one and all for the gift, Avliicli they avouUl find helpful to purchase some of. the articles lost in the fire.

Dancing continued until a late hour when the National Anthem closed the function. .
