The-breakdown means that the cardboard, machine can he operated’ for only four days in the week, and it is presumed that this Avill react on all the staff directly employed in this department. How long it will he before the fault can be rectified and a full running .schedule recommenced is not •? knoAvn. the Avhole position -being governed by how quickly Lbe parts needed can be obtained from England. The management of the Mill is at present in touch Avith the manufacturers at Homo through the New Zealand agents. An endeavour is being made to JiaA 7 9 the parts sen? out by airmail, and when these nr,ri A r e, the AA'ork of repairing will lie done locally. The breakdown has not actually affected the Avhole of the mill, although its effects will he felt indirectly throughout the organisation. The two pulping machines in the gtoundwood mill, Avliere the pulp is prepared, will he run on fhe three days of the vreek during Avhicli the cardboard machine is not functioning. On the remaining lour days, one only will he operated. The agement of the mill, Avas yesterday morning, unable to state exactly how long this state of affairs Avill continue.

The annual OA r erhaul at the Mill which is scheduled to commence on February 17. will proceed as usual.
