LAUNCH TAKES FIRE
EARLY MORNING OUTBREAK
ORIGIN A MYSTERY
The launch Aloma owned by Mr" Harold Grace of Whakatane, Avaapractically destroyed by fire in the earl 3* hours of this morning. The' launch Avhicli Avas moored near the wharf was first noticed in flames by the niglitAvatcliman, Mr Andrew Kinnaird, when on his rounds about 4 a.m. He immediately sounded the alarm.
Though the brigade turned out promptly the fire had such a grip that the vessel was practically gutted throughout, all the hull plank* ing being burnt and a total loss resulting.
The origin is a as no person Avas on the launch which when last seen last evening appear* ed to be perfectly safe. The boat was A’alued at £250, and had recently been overhauled and improved, by the owner with a vieAV to a sale.* ’ It is not knoAvn Avhether it was insured or not.
