GAMES FOR CHILDREN
FOR HOME PARTIES TRADING STARS “Trading Stars'' is a good gam». Each one is provided with a small red paper star, with the exception of one Avho is given a gold star. Of course no one knows who has the, gold star. The stars are held' in the closed hand and the other hand is closed as a blind. Everyone walks about with the hands extended, expressing- greetings to the others. As this is done, one of the two greeting another taps one of the. ex. tended hands of the other person. If the touched hand happens to have a star in it, the owner, must trade with the player who has: greeted him. At the end of three minutes the leader blows a whistle and the. player holdhjg the gold star is given a special prize.
BUBBLES Prepare two bowls of soapsuds and strengthen the soap water with a few drops of glycerine. Fasten a long piece of string by each end to a chair at one. end of the room and '1 another in the same way at the other side of the room. Put a basin on each of the four chairs (one at each end of the two strings), and let the players on each side stand at the back of the string, and the game is ready to play.
The\ first player blows a bubble and the others on his side try to blow it over to the opposite camp. If the bubble breaks on B’s side, that counts one to A. So, of course. B will try to blow the bubble so that it breaks on A’s ground.. When ever3 r one has blown a bubble in turn the score will be counted. |
CLUMPS Divide into two sections. Each side must have a leader. Call one side “the dogs’' and the other “the cats.” Many objects arc hidden about the house. The game is to find them. Directly one of the “cats” sees an object that has been bidden ; all the cats “meow” to inform their leader * 1 as he is the only one who is allowed to rescue it from its hiding place. If one of the “dogs’ finds it, all the “dogs” bark until their leader stops them by removing the object about which they are barking. If there are enough players and enough objects there can be clumps of chickens ducks quackcows mooing and so on. It is a very laughable game!
