A sixpence of old vintage was found among some change handled by tile secretary of the Mount Maimganui Yacht and Power Boat Club at its New Year’s Day regatta. The sixpence featured the head of George lII’, and was dated 1817.

Reporting Accidents

An American journal recently to hand contains a full page advertisement headed “Cows Need Penicillin Too.” It is stated that America’s milk supply is reduced by at least 13 per eent. through bovine mastitis. It is so widespread that the loss in animals and milk production was estimated at the equivalent of £6O million (N.Z.). Treatment with penicillin has shown excellent results in curing mastitis and it has also been successfully used against germs causing tetanus, black-leg anthrax, botulism calf diptheria swine, erysipelas, and many other diseases of farm stock. It is stated, in conclusion that mass production of penicillin has made it available in quantify for veterinary as well as human needs.
