WAIMANA-NUKUHOU W.l. DECEMBER MEETING The December meeting of the Waimana-Nukuhou Women's Institute was held in the Waixnana there being a good attendance of members. Mrs Woolfield presided in the absence of the president, Mrs Wylde who sent her apology. The meeting opened with t N he singing of the. Ode to Friendship. Mrs Stevenson then read the xninutes and correspondence was dealt with. Most interesting letters were read from two members who arc away from the district at present, and a telefram from Mrs R. Black, Taaranga was received conveying the season's greetings.. One new member was welcomed, Mrs S. A. Eagle. Tbe Golden Thread was given by Mrs, J. Mitchell, whilst Mrs Hewitt gave an interesting reading, entitled "How Others See Us." A very pleasant part of the programme was tlie exchange of Xmas I gil ts among members. A large-par-cel of goods for Unrra was received from members. The competitions for the day were very well entered the results being as follows: —Best single flower: Mrs F. Bell 1: Mrs. G. Mitchell 2; Mrs: Fleming 3. Best double flower: Mrs Movtenson 1; Mrs H. Bell 2; Miss E. Wardlaw 3. Covered coat hanger: Miss N. Mitchell 1; Mrs Mortenson 2; Mrs Hewitt 3. Presentation box of Mowers for the hospital: Mrs F. Bell 1; Mrs Mortenson 2; Mrs N. Clark 3. Best vegetable: Mrs F. Bell 1; Miss F. Woolfield 2; Mrs N. Clark 3. After afternoon tea had been served Mrs Woolfield thanked the judges, and hostesses and wished all a ,Merry Xmas and Happy New Year. The singing of the National Aivthem closed the meeting.
