Writing the County Council and enclosing a report on the housing conditions at Te the Health Inspector (Mr A. R. Knights) stated that it is understood that though the houses were built by the: company they revert to the Maori own,ers at the expiry of the lease. The directors intend to close the mill within the next three or four months as the estimated cost of renovations etc. to the houses is £3000. The company does not receive rent for the houses, this being paid to the owners by the company after being deducted from wages. After hearing the Cr Cawte observed that the. Mill had been tallying of closing down for the past nine years.
