METHODIST FUNCTION
SUNDAY SCHOOL YEAR ENDS ANNIVERSARY TEA & CONCERN The Methodist Hall ? King Street, was packed on Tuesday evening, on the occasion ol' the Sunday School Anniversary Tea and Concert. Sevtables for the first sitting j and the tables for the first sitting ancl the substantial consisting ol many toothsome " dainties., rapidly disappeared. . However, the ladies had reserved ample for late comers. Unfortunately rain prevented the children from enjoying outside games between the tea and the concert, but they readily provided impromptu items for that interval. The concert programme was varied an;l colourful, and well received by a large audience. It included recitations, action songs, hoop drill, pianoforte trio;, Christmas carols, plays and. a tableau "Silent Night" which beautifully depicted the scene at Hethlehe.ni. This was followed by the presentation of Sunday School prizes to those children securing tlie highest attendance marks. The highest award was made to Bruce Darvill, with 41 out qf a possible of 4.3. Miss Nola Ivenyon presented Mrs Attwood with a beautiful bouquet of carnations and a vase, on behalf of the. Sunday in appreciation of her work during the year ? and especially in the preparation ol this concert. Grateful appreciation was expressed to all parents and others assisting, and especially to Mrs Darvill, who was responsible for the costumes and dressing of the children.
