I WELCOME HOME DANCE The welcome home dance bold in the Waimana llall recently } was well ! attended. Mr and Mrs King supplied the dance music and Mr A. Bell obliged with an extra. Mr Angus lilled the role of M.C. The Monte Carlo Waltzes were won by Mr and Mrs 1. Savage and Miss R. Spnnhake and Mr O. WooL field. During the everting Mr Robert Wardlaw on behalf of the Patriotic Committee and all present, -welcomed the guests of the who had. recently returned from overseas. The .speaker stated how all were pjeased to see the men home-.again, and wished them the best o£ health and. success ki the future. At this stage Mr Wardlaw asked tlie to accept a wallet and its contents with best of luc'k from all present. It was ; he a small gift of appreciation for what the men had. done for their people and country in the war years. j The guests were: Stoker Brian Burnett L.A.C. Ken Burnett, Pri•J vate Roy Wicken.s and Telegraphist J. Crnnswick. The men in turn suitably responded thanking all for the. pleasant evening and the gift, and all stated how T they appreciated the parcels while overseas- ■ which were keenly looked for. The assembly joined in singing in great spirit "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows" and dancing continued un r til a late hour.

NUKUIIOU NORTH Tlie annual calf club ;day was held in the school grounds last Friday morning. There was a good attendance of parents and friends. After the judging of the calves, all present enjoyed a delicious lunchcon provfiled by the ladies.. Following were the awards: — Senior Calf Rearing: Jim Black 1; Merle Robinson 2; Dick Robinson 3.
