LOCAL CLUB VISITS TAURANGA On Saturday December 1 ap- , . '» 3 l proximately sixteen members of the Whakatane Rowing Club responded to an invitation from # the Tauranga to take, part in its opening regatta. The occasion was an important one in the history of the Tauranga Club as it marked the opening of their new clubhouse. The competing crews Avere comprised of members from both clubs and the Whakatane boys enjoyed a fair share of - success in the heats, and AA*ere represented in the winning crew by "Tafly" (Champ) Atkinson. At the close, of the da3 r ? the President of the Tauranga Club Mr Harvey, thanked the Whakatane Club members J'or their attendance and co-operation. Mr 13. Norman Whakatane Club Captain suitably responded. TK'e local lads. Avere entertained at the residence of Mr Harvey before returning to Whakatane.
