You know as everyone else knows there would not have been any shortage of houses in New Zealand today if we had not of been through six years of war.. The amount of timber used for construction of military camps~ in New Zealand in the last six years, would have provided enough material to have built 36 000 houses. So truthfully speaking one must admit 'the sole reason is shortage of manpower and materials brought about by war.

Having enjoyed I'eading your correspondent's attempts' to coyer up his first point having the satisfaction of knowing tha't I at least educated him on his failure to prove his story in respect to the living standards and general welfare of the workers in New I accept his suggestion in a previous letter, asking for the public to be the referee. Well ,Mr Evans the public will give you its answer alf the next election, so in the meantime may you still enjoy the prosperity which I feel sure is yours at the present. In conclusion 1 take this opportunity of thanking Mr for the liberal amount of space you have granted us both in previous issues.

Yours etc. P. GILLESPIE.
