WEDDING BELLS

KEMP—HARRIS A wedding of considerable interest to residents of_this district took place at the Methodist Church, King Street on November 7 when Merelynne Joyce (ex W.A.A.F.) and only daughter of Mr and Mrs W. S. Harris of 23 Lovelock was married to L.A.C. Bruce Francis, (recently returned from the Pacific) eldest son of Mr and Mrs At hoi Kemp of Warkworth (late of RuaCisborue). The Rev. A. F. Attvvood officiated. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr Jack Harris (owing to illness of her father) wore a charming gown of embossed cloque made with sweetheart neckline and long close fitting bodice and fully gored skirt falling into a long oval train. Her veil which Avas kindly lent by a friend was beautifully embroidered and was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of white roses, stock and azcleas.

Attending as matron of honour was Mrs Joan Dixon friend of the bride while Miss Audrey Wright

(ex W.A.A.F.) of Whangarci was bridesmaid. Both were dressed alike in frocks of hyacinath blue fashioned on similar lines to the bride's. Shoulder length cyclamen veils were worn with top knots of blue and cyclamen. Their bouquets were of toning {lowers.

The best man was the brother of the bride Mr Neville Harris (ex Flying Officer of the R.A.F. United Kingdom and R.N.Z.A.F.) Mr Colin Kemp, brother of the bridegroom, was groomsman.

The reception was held at the Commercial Hotel the guests being received by Mrs W. S. Harris who wore a smart black silk crepe ensemble with a black sailor shaped hat to tone and shoulder spray of cyclamen and white flowers. She was assisted by the bridegroom's mother who wore a smart tloral frock with navy coat and hat to match and shoulder spray to tone.

Among the guests were Mrs C. G. Bloore of looking very smart in grey tailored suit with red also the bridegroom's grand parents from and his great aunt from Dunedin.

The newly weds left amid showers of confetti for Gisborne where their honeymoon , was spent. The bride travelled in a .smart hyacinth blue suit with black accessories to match. Their future home will be Marine Parade Devonport Auckland.
