ANNUAL MEETING HELD

SHOW POSSIBILITIES REMOTE

The Bay of Plenty Winter Show Association Inc. held its annual meeting in the Whakatane Borough Council Chambers 011 Thursday ? November 22 at 81 p.m.

The president's report and the balance sheet as sent out to all members was presented, and adopted without dissent ion.

.Election of officers for the ensuing year was then proceeded with resulting as follows:—Patron: Mr VV. M.P.; President: Mr H. G. Warren, re-elected; VieePresdient: Mr VV. Armstrong; Treas r ure.r: Mr C. (i. Caisley, re-elected; Executive: Messrs L. R. Spring, A. Hall F. C. L. Jordan, F.B. Cutler 1. B B. S. Barry, G. Booth and J. Waterhouse: Auditors: Messrs Prideaitx, Bridget" and llarl and.

Mr C. A. Head, Secretary tendered his resignation from tbe position of secretary owing to stress of other work. Various members expressed their regret at losing his and it was resolved that a committee go into the matter of engaging a Secretary for the Association.

The president advised that he ami the secretary had gone into the matter of insurance cover over the Association's Assets and after careful consideration had increased the. cover commensurate Avith the presentday values. It was resolved that the action of the president and secretary be endorsed and jtpproved.

The president also advised that he had been looking forward very kecn,ly to holding a show in "the. coming year but he had been informed that there would definitely not be any electricity for show purposes and as there was no possibility of any improvements in the electrical therefore he could not see a show being held in 194(5. Mr Canning also spoke on. the same subject, stating that irrespective of the. matter of electricity, exhibits of machinery would be in very short supply and definitely would not be available for show purposes as much as he would like to see a show it was unwise to hold one if there was nothing to show. Mr Warren suggested that the matter of holding a show be brought forward again in the New Year. Mr Spring remarked on the state of the members subscriptions and suggested that a circular be sent to all members advising that subscriptions were absolutely vital at. this stage, as the Association had assets in the buildings and furniture and fittings which had to be maintained and kept, in repair and that necessitated funds.

Mr Canning proposed that .-a smal committee go into the matter of re novating the poultry sheds.
