MEETING AT OTAKIRI

The Otakiri Women's Institute held its monthly meeting at the Otakiri Hall on -November 7. Mrs Armstrong presided and there was a good gathering of members. November is International month and the Roll Call was the collection of one penny per member for the G.C.W.W. also a knowledge quiz which took the form of a spelling bee and general knowledge questions, the winners being Mrs Newman and. Mrs Jessup. The Golden Thread—Women in Public Life was read by Mrs Missen. Business. The arrangements for the Children's Xmas Party to be held at Mrs W. J. Murray's place on the Bth December. A new member, Mrs D. Brophy was welcomed to the Institute. Competitions: Doll dressed in National Costume made quite a colourful display the results being Mrs Irving and Mrs F. Mayo tied 1; Mrs Peck 2; Mrs Crist-all 3. Tea towel, fancy worked: Mrs Armstrong 1; Mrs Cristall 2; Mrs O'Sullivan 3. Chinese chews: Mrs Armstrbng 1: Mrs Mackrell 2; Mrs Missen 3. Best flower: Mrs Cristall 1; Mrs Armstrong 2; Mrs Missen 3. Best, vegetable: Mrs Missen 1; Mrs W. Murray 2; Mrs Mayo 3. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs A. Smith and Mrs W. Woods.
