COMING OF AGE
BRIGHT OTAKIIRI EVENING
MR KEITH STOKER HONOURED
One of the birghtest evenings seen in the Otakiri Hall for many a tlay took place last Saturday when approxinyitely 120 friends of the Storer family of Onepu gathered to do honour to Mr Keith Storer on the attainment of his majority. Mrs F. Storer as hostess wore a smart ensemble of navy blue white spotted silk.' The evening passed happily in dancing and with Mi Tally Atkinson fulfilling the. role, of M.C. in his usual capable manner. Music was supplied by Mr Reg Thompson (piano) and Tom Eaglcson (drums). A well contested Monte Carlo was won "by Mr A. Watson and Mrs E. Marsh. The supper interval was the occasion for honouring a short toast list in which Mr J. Nowland proposed the health of the guest of th'e evening and wished him good luclt for the future. Keith briefly responded. The toast to Mr and Mrs Storer was in the capable hands of Mr J. Harris (Otakiri) and Avas responded to by Mr Storer. The evening continued happily till midnight when Auld Lang Syne was sung and the gathering dispersed. A number of .splendid items eontri-, buted to the success of the gathering and these were gh r en as under: Solos. Mrs Archer 'Song of the Islands'; Humorous Song t Mr Ted t Rriggs 'The Egg': Solos_ Mr Frank Storer 'Can T Forget You' and 'Sinilirt Thru'; Humorous Mr Lindsay (Hamilton) 'The Bull.' Apologies were received from district friends and others as far away as Tc Puke. The opportunity was taken of announcing the engagement of Mr Keith Storer to Miss , Lily youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Bird, Taihape. Tn honour of his coming of age, Keith' received many presents and cheques.
