WIN FOR UNITED PAROA DEFEATED Whakatane United gained a sixL )oint win over Paroa during the iveekend. United took first mil Spring and Crawl'ord put 30 on the board before being separated. McKenzie was the next batsman and lie and Crawford set about the bowling and added a further 89 runs before McKenzie wa.s caught on the boundary for 30. Crawford, batted jxceptionally well for 71 before beng bowled. The rest of the batsmen 'ailed and the innings closed for 156. Gillam was the best of the bowl;r.s taking 5 for 29. Paroa commenced their innings us,t before lunch after a poor start. Uleland and Gillam staged a good jartnersliip and after Gillam was Malaquin also got into louble figures. Cleland batted very .oundly for 44 runs btit wickets fell quickly after he was dismissed and he innings closed for 105 runs f Mckenzie taking 6 wickets for 35.
