MID-DAY CLOSING
TO BE DISCONTINUED LEADING DRAPER'S DECISION Tlie, practice closing their premises during the mid-day luncheon hour, which was, adopted by many .of the principle firms of this town during the hitter__part of the war, will be discontinued* in future by the main establishments. It is. to lie hoped that the example now set will be followed by all oilier shops which have carried out the precedent In the past and that the town as a whole will now remain open liom 8.30 a An. till 5 p.m. as in normal times. The mid-day closing was never a popular innovation, particularly for the country shoppers who were in many instances forced to return home with only half of their ping completed. The Chamber of Commerce through the Retailers' Association has been largely responsible for the decision to return to full shopping hours ? and its action will be widely applauded.
