WAIMAN& DEFEAT UNITED AVIN ON Ist INNINGS Last Sundaj T , the Waimana Cric. kct Club defeated United by a win on the first innings. Wimana won the toss and elected to bat but the leading batsmen failed to get going. However the latter batsmen all scored and the innings closed with 74 on the board. S. McConnell was top scorer with 18. Bowling for United, McKenzie took 5 wickets for 22. Crawford was brought on at the end of the innings and took 3 wickets with consecutive balls. United failed badly at tbe crease compiling only 40 runs McKenzie being the bnlj r batsman to gain double figures. Wells, and Menzies both bowled well taking 5 for 17 and 4 for 21 respectively. Waimana went for the runs in their second knock and eventually declared at 114 for the loss of 6 wickets Axtens being 55 not out. United took strike again 148 runs behind and at stumps had lost 7 wickets for G9 runs. Apart from McKenzie who scored 4G in quick time the batting again slumped. J. Ruff bowled with great vigour and secured 5 for 21. Parau batted first and after a bad start (-1 wickets being down for 22) managed to carry the score to 87 before the last wicket fell. Batting for Parau Laurie 1S j McGougan 15 and (jillam 11 wore the only ones to reach double figures. Bowling i'or Edgec/umbe Ducker 4 for 27 f Malaquin 2 for 5 were the main wicket takers.'
