THE LOCAL GOLF CLUB
TO many of the leading residents of neighbouring towns, Whakatane is known mainly through the hospitality so generously extended to them by the golfing fraternity during the course of the annual tournament. Now that the season is drawing to a close, it ig fitting to pay a warm tribute to those who pioneered the formation of Whakatane's wellknown golf club, and also the laying down of the splendidly appointed links at Paroa. In many instances, the golf course can be regarded as one of the town's best standing advertisements. It is inevitably the source of admiration and favourable comment by all who visit it, and has been described as the best country course in the Dominion. We take pleasure in extending our own congratulations to the club on the splendid service it k rendering to the community.
