MAORI STOREKEEPER FINED Before Mr E. L. Walton S.M., «>• in the Whakatane Magistrate's Court last Tuesday ? John Hunia Charley Te was charged with failure to keep correct and adequate records of the petrol sales served from the pump outside his store at Te Tcko. Sergeant Farrell said there was no question of any fraudulant action or criminal offence. The card system setting out the individual sales had not been kept up to date for same months and the whole position had. been unearthed by the Transport Officer during a recent visit. Mr Barry who defended t said that the slip had been a technical one. The returns had been regularly supplied to the Controller but the service cards for each client had not been kept up to date. Defendant was fined £2 and costs 275.
