ARTICLES OF UNIFORM
WEARING PROHIBITED
Many out of sheer Labit ? or else because the mufti allowance lias not been elastic enough to cover their manifold Civvy St. clothing needs still wear articles of their old uniforms mostly for working. This is contrary to the Army Regulations and a Avarning has been issued by the authorities. The fact that the wearing of the items may be one of necessity and not plea. surcj does not come into the picture. The Army Regulations declare that personnel not employed on full-time service, or those on leave Avithout pay for more than 28 days are not entitled to wear uniform or any articles of uniform. When articles or uniform are not returned and the cost is. deducted ' J [from pay or mufti allowance tbis is NOT a sale and still does not 9 ' make the paidj'or articles the property of the ex-Kiwi. The impression that articles ol' uniform may be acquired by cash payment or retained in lieu of some portion of the mufti allowance is a wrong one. The ex-Kiwi is entitled to retain all articles of uudenvear issued to him j but the wearing, use or possession of other articles of Army uniform without huvful authority is an ofl'ence, and the hapless exKiwi offender is liable, to prosecution under the Uniform and Badges Emergency Regulations 1941. This act provides for a sentence upon to a period of not more than three ycars ;> or a line not exceeding £200. And for every day the offence is continued after eon_ viction a fine of £20 may be imposed! This will put the red in your paybook, Kiwi.
