On VE Day London saw it s biggest i victory procession so far—a two. ; miles-long column of the victors in i the first world war. There was none I of the pomp and dazzle of a mili- < tary display. No uniforms., save : among the Begimental bands.. But < behind the Legion standards march l - <■ ed a great winding column of rain- c coated umbrella-carrying members <• of the British Legion. More than I ();00() bemedalled veterans of 1 after a service at the Cenotaph \ marched past the King at Bucking- t ham Palace. After the march past 1 the King and Queen spoke to mem- t bers of the Britisli Legion at the 1 gates of the Palace. e
