PROGRESS IN WHAKATANE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING * Steady progress and continuation* of the good, work under the slogan X of 'Save the Babies' was reported. at the annual meeting of the Wha-» katane branch of the N.Z. Plunket Society held recently. Mj The Mayoress* Mrs B. S. presided. In her annual report the Mrs M. p. Cairns } congratulated j Nurse Armstrong on her continued good work and thanked all who had assisted in the various functions ij held during the year. The benefit ts concert promoted by the. members | of the Women's Institute Drama Fes- i tival resulted in £16 6s 6d being $ banded to the general fund,, while ' the collection and street stalls 'held _* last November raised, a further £76 •» Is 6d. The Garden Party at , Mrs Prideaux's residence netted the sum ; of £25 17s 3d. The election of officers resulted: — President: Mrs Cairns (re-elected), j Honorary Vice-presidents: Mes- /? dames B. S.
