HILLCREST WATER
STRAIN ON BOROUGH SUPPLY
MEETING POTENTIAL DEMAND
In the course of his report to the Borough Council hist evening on the question of water supply to houses on Hillerest, the Electrical Engineer stated that the existing system could possibly cater for six more homes. The average use today was at the rate of 38 gallons per bead per day. Commenting on the report the Mayor Mr B. S. Barry) said that it was pleasing to note that residents of Hillerest were using a good deal less than the average person in the Borough who was habitually metered as using 55 gallons daily. He added that the report had been instigated by himself when he learnt that three new houses were likely to be built on Hillcres.t almost immediately and plans were being prepared for others. It would be urgently necessary when the Borough considered its new scheme to make provision for a separate Hillerest supply. However he did not think that the position wpuld need any immediate steps in view of limited number of building permits being granted.
